A clean, well-presented town centre is one of the simplest ways to make Blackpool feel welcoming — for the people who live here, the businesses who trade here, and the visitors who choose to spend their time here. It’s also one of the areas Blackpool BID is most consistently active in, with our Environment Team out on the streets week in, week out.
Here’s a look at two of our most recent projects in July.
Case Study: Birley Street
Out Environment Team jet washed Birley Street and removed graffiti as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Blackpool’s town centre clean and welcoming.
The before-and-after results speak for themselves – years of grime and unwanted graffiti lifted to reveal brighter, better-presented pavements and frontages along one of the town centre’s key streets.

Case Study: Queen Street
The team turned its attention to Queen Street, pressure washing sections of the street and giving all the planters in the area some well-deserved TLC.
These planters were funded by Blackpool Council through the High Street Accelerator programme, and they’re a great example of how council investment and BID delivery work hand in hand to keep Blackpool’s streets clean, green, and welcoming for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Why it matters
Small changes like these make a big difference to how our town centre looks and feels. A clean street isn’t just more pleasant to walk down – it shapes people’s first impressions of Blackpool, supports footfall for our businesses, and reflects the pride we all take in this town.
