Two Makers Markets Celebrate Blackpool’s Creative Talent This August

Blackpool will be celebrating its creative side this August with two makers markets that bring together some of the region’s most talented independent artists, designers and food producers.

In partnership with Blackpool Town Centre BID, the Makers Market returns to Olympia (inside the Winter Gardens) on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 24th. From 11am to 4pm, the venue will be filled with over 70 independent traders from across Lancashire and the North West, offering handmade gifts, original artwork, jewellery, homewares and artisanal food.

Entrance is via Coronation Street, opposite The Backlot Blackpool. Live music, children’s craft workshops, delicious street food and a friendly atmosphere will make it a great day out for all ages, and dogs are welcome too.

The following weekend on Sunday, August 31st, Abingdon Street Market hosts its popular monthly makers event. Organised by The Strand Collective, it brings together around 20 local makers alongside the market’s permanent traders and food vendors from 10am to 5pm. Visitors can browse stalls selling art, vintage collectables, clothing, plants and handmade jewellery, enjoy music from a live DJ and try freshly prepared dishes from the food stalls.

Both events are free to attend and give people the chance to see work from independent makers across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast, while supporting the businesses that help shape the town.

If you’re looking for a gift, something for your home, or just a day out with good food and interesting stalls, Blackpool’s makers markets in August are a great way to spend the day.
