This July marks the first anniversary of GO Blackpool, the digital town hub created by Blackpool’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to connect locals, visitors, and businesses across the town.
The free app puts everything Blackpool has to offer in one place, from news, shopping deals, and guides to dining offers, events, and more. Its audience is evenly split between local residents (49.4%) and visitors (50.6%), showing how well it serves both the local community and the visitor economy.
GO Blackpool is on track to reach the 10,000 downloads milestone very soon. Over the past year, it has supported major town campaigns including Blackpool Restaurant Week, Showzam, Capital of Dance, seasonal activity, and local promotions, driving awareness, footfall, and visibility across the Blackpool area
The app continues to grow, backed by support from key partners such as Blackpool Transport, Winter Gardens, Abingdon Street Market, Pleasure Beach Resort, Blackpool FC, and other stakeholders across both the Town Centre and Tourism BID areas.
For BID levy-paying businesses, GO Blackpool is a powerful free tool to promote your business, share special offers, and list events to a local and engaged audience. Businesses can upload content directly and use in-app and email notifications to reach users.
Unlike social media posts, which can often get lost in the algorithm, notifications land directly on the user’s device, giving your message real visibility at the right time.
The app also features interactive tours that help users explore Blackpool’s best spots, whether they’re looking for live music venues, dog-friendly places, real ale pubs, or hidden gems, offering even more ways to get your business discovered.
As GO Blackpool heads into year two, it’s only going to grow. If you’re a Town Centre or Tourism BID levy payer and don’t yet have your account set up, we’re here to help.
Make sure to download the app here and email admin@blackpoolbids.org and we’ll get you started.
