At Blackpool BID, we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our town through proactive engagement with a variety of partners and services. Our ongoing collaboration with the Police, town centre wardens and local businesses plays a crucial role in addressing and mitigating safety concerns.
Here’s a glimpse into how we are working together to create a safer environment for everyone.
Ongoing Engagement with the Police
Our commitment to town safety begins with our strong partnership with the local Police. We hold bi-weekly meetings with the Town Centre Sergeants to discuss and address hotspot concerns identified by our BID wardens during their patrols. These concerns include dealing with persistent beggars, rough sleepers and problematic shoplifters. By sharing information and working together, we aim to tackle these issues more effectively.
We also encourage all Levy payers to report any incidents to the Police, either via the non-emergency number 101 or through the DISC system if they are members of Shopwatch.
Reporting incidents helps us build a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face and allows us to deploy resources more efficiently.
Not a member of Shopwatch yet? This is another excellent reason to join and contribute to the safety of our town.
Meet the Wardens
Our Town Centre BID wardens are on the front line, patrolling the streets and ensuring the safety and security of the area. We regularly host “Meet the Wardens” events, providing an opportunity for Levy payers to get to know the individuals who are working tirelessly to keep our town safe.
These events also serve as a platform for open dialogue between Levy payers, the BID team, and our Town Centre Neighbourhood Police.
Last year our wardens helped to recover £9,120 of lost or stolen stock as well as providing intelligence which led to 3 CIO (Criminal Injunction Orders) being issued at court to persistent offenders causing antisocial behaviour.
The next “Meet the Wardens” event promises to be an insightful and engaging session. We invite all Levy payers to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to voice your concerns, ask questions and learn more about the safety measures in place. Your participation is invaluable in our collective effort to enhance town safety.
